Student answer (Band 6.0)

It is widely believed that people of all ages must save money for their future.I firmly agree with this statement because saving money can prevent from unforeseen financial problems that may occur in the future.

One of the main reason that why people should save some of their earnings is that it can be useful as a backup against the unwanted problems such as health issues and other necessary financial crisis.Although governments provide health insurance to citizens, savings can assist to get those private and expensive treatments which are not covered by the insurance. That's how savings are crucial and can help an individual to cope with the most difficult times even.

Secondarily, younger people are also advised to save money from their early age as it helps them to develop a habit of saving money and also make them actualize of monetary value. As a result children will learn to spend wisely rather than spending lavishly. For the case, middle-class people often face financial problems which disrupts the professional dream of their children as well. Thus, saving money from an early age can help individuals to achieve their dream if finances are only the barrier for them.

In a nutshell, people regardless of their age must spend wisely and save some of their takings as it can resolve most of their upcoming potential problems associated specially with finances. As savings are a kind of backup which can save individuals from major problems such as expensive treatments and other issues like pursuing career. Therefore, poeple must plan their long term goals along with the short survival goals in order to cope with the devastating issues that may arise in the future.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

Your position is clear from the introduction: you firmly agree that people should save, and the conclusion restates this view. The response addresses both general financial security and the particular value of saving from a young age. The examples of uncovered medical treatment and children’s future ambitions are relevant, but the second point is less fully explained: the link between middle-class financial difficulties and saving early could be made more explicit, and a specific example would strengthen it. Some claims, such as savings resolving “most” future problems, are broad. To develop the response further, explain how saving supports long-term goals and qualify generalisations with clearer reasoning or examples. This would make the support more consistently developed across the essay.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The essay has a clear overall structure, with an introduction, two body paragraphs presenting separate reasons, and a conclusion. The progression from protection against emergencies to building a saving habit is logical, and signposts such as “One of the main reason” and “Secondarily” help identify the stages of the argument. However, some linking is mechanical, and several transitions do not make the relationship between ideas fully clear. For example, the move from children learning to spend wisely to middle-class families’ financial problems needs a more explicit connection. The conclusion also repeats several points rather than synthesising them. Use a wider range of natural transitions and clearer referencing, and ensure each paragraph develops one connected line of reasoning.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

You use an adequate range of vocabulary to discuss financial security, including “backup,” “health insurance,” “financial crisis,” “spend wisely,” and “long term goals.” These choices make the main ideas understandable, and there are attempts at more formal or less common expressions. However, some word choices and collocations are inaccurate or unnatural, such as “actualize of monetary value,” “other necessary financial crisis,” and “short survival goals.” “Takings” is also an imprecise choice for income or earnings. Spelling errors, including “poeple,” reduce accuracy. Aim for precise, natural combinations such as “understand the value of money,” “unexpected financial emergencies,” and “short-term needs.” Proofreading for spelling and choosing familiar collocations will improve clarity.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and complex sentence forms, including a conditional clause in “if finances are only the barrier for them” and a concession beginning “Although governments provide health insurance.” This shows some range, and the overall meaning is generally clear. However, errors occur in sentence structure, agreement, articles, and punctuation. For example, “One of the main reason” needs a plural noun, while “it helps them to develop … and also make them” has inconsistent verb forms. The opening sentence also runs directly into the next without a space after the full stop, and several sentences have similar punctuation problems. Review subject–verb agreement and parallel verb forms, and check sentence boundaries and commas. More accurate control of these patterns would make the complex ideas easier to follow.
