Student answer (Band 6.0)

Saving money is considered essential for everyone, and many people argue that also young people should save money for their future. I agree with this argument due to the economical demands that stress people growing up facing the real world.

People tend to save money for various reasons and one of them is buying a house or affording a certain level of living. Nowadays, such normal targets became challenging as the housing prices rose significantly, and the global economics are facing real droughts which affect most citizens all over the world. This creates the financial stress for everyone that they might need a lot of time until they afford something they need. In Egypt, for instance, buying a house in the present could require having at least two million pounds, which is unrealistic for most people.

That's why youngsters tend to save money while they are still in high school, for example, to achieve a certain amount of money that helps them achieve the societal area they desire.

Additionally, I think most young children should invest their summar time by making projects that help them make and save money, which can also provide them with new soft skills in real-world settings besides the theoritical materials they study.

In conclusion, many people save money throughout their lifes, which they mostly do so when they are adults. However, because of the high prices of accomodations and pricing all over the world, the need for saving money from a young age became a necessisty. Moreover, youngsters should use their free time to work, and save money along with their studies to help them get the amount of money they need when they grow up.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

Your position is clear from the introduction: you agree that young people should save, and the conclusion reinforces this view. The response gives relevant reasons, particularly the rising cost of housing, and the Egypt example makes the financial challenge concrete. You also add that projects can help young people develop practical skills. These points address the task, but they are not equally developed: the housing example is explained more fully, while the benefits of saving early and the proposed projects receive little explanation. The phrase “achieve the societal area they desire” also leaves the intended benefit unclear. To strengthen the response, explain how starting early helps, and develop one example of a realistic saving or work plan.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a recognisable structure, moving from your position to reasons and then a conclusion. Paragraphing generally separates the main points, and linking phrases such as “Additionally” and “In conclusion” help readers follow the argument. This gives the essay a coherent overall arrangement. However, some connections are mechanical or unclear. “That’s why” introduces the paragraph about high-school saving, but the link between the housing example and this claim could be explained more explicitly. The conclusion also repeats the main points rather than drawing them together, and “which they mostly do so when they are adults” has an unclear reference. Use clearer transitions between claims and examples, and make each paragraph’s central point explicit.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use vocabulary relevant to the topic, including “financial stress,” “housing prices,” “soft skills,” and “real-world settings,” and you attempt some less common expressions. However, several inaccurate or unnatural choices limit precision and sometimes make ideas difficult to interpret. Examples include “global economics are facing real droughts,” “societal area,” and “pricing” where you appear to mean the cost of accommodation or living. There are also spelling errors such as “summar,” “theoritical,” “lifes,” “accomodations,” and “necessisty.” These issues fit a range that is adequate for the task but not yet consistently controlled. Prioritise accurate collocations and check spelling; simpler, precise wording is more effective than an ambitious phrase used incorrectly.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0

You use a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, including a reason clause in “I agree with this argument due to…” and a relative clause in “projects that help them make and save money.” Most of the argument remains understandable, and errors do not generally prevent communication. Some grammatical problems persist, however. In “many people argue that also young people should save,” the word order is awkward; “many people argue that young people should also save” is clearer. “The housing prices rose” would be more naturally expressed with an article or possessive, and “the need … became” needs a tense form suited to the continuing situation. The final sentence also has an unclear “which” reference. Review word order, articles, tense consistency, and pronoun reference while continuing to use varied sentence structures.
