Student answer (Band 6.5)

Saving money for a better future is cruicial for every individual particulary the young generation.

I strongly agree with this idea as it provides a financial resource in old age and also leads to a stable life in a longer run.

Some people believe that spending all their earnings immediately is the best way to live their life as they do not have to worry about the future. This seems like a charming idea but in reality it proves to be a bad decision. If a person spends all his earnings without saving anything, he will not be able to manage a sudden expense. This expense can be a medical emergency, a theft or a friend in financial need. Parents that spend without any strategy often end up having problems when their children grow up and their educational expenses increase.

Similarly, if a young person spends recklessly, it can create a problem for him when he plans to get married. Expenses may increase many folds and this will become a challenging task for him to maintain a smooth life style. Delaying some wishes and saving money seems to be a depressing task but in a long run it is a blessing in disguise. Moreover, a person can earn and save when he is able to work and full of energy. This smartwork can provide him financial freedom and fullfill the needs in old age.

In conclusion, saving money for future is extreamly important for everone and i am strongly in favour of this ideology. Not only it provides a valuable resource to be used in hard times but also creates a sense of financial freedom paticularly in old age.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.0

Your position is clear from the opening—“I strongly agree”—and remains consistent in the conclusion. You address why saving matters by discussing unexpected costs, children’s education, marriage-related expenses and financial security in old age. These examples are relevant and give the argument a clear direction. The explanation of sudden expenses is particularly concrete, while the points about marriage and delaying wishes are less fully developed: explain more specifically how saving helps young people meet these costs or avoid debt. Some claims, such as parents “often” having problems, are broad and would be stronger with a brief example or qualification. Overall, the response addresses the task and supports its position, though development is uneven.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 7.0

The essay has a clear overall structure: an introduction states your view, two body paragraphs develop reasons, and a conclusion restates your position. The progression from unexpected expenses to young people’s future plans is logical, and linking expressions such as “Similarly,” “Moreover” and “In conclusion” help guide the reader. However, some connections between ideas could be made more precise. For example, the shift from reckless spending to marriage expenses would benefit from a clearer explanation of the relationship. The repeated use of “Moreover” and “not only…but also” in the conclusion also makes cohesion somewhat formulaic. Use referencing and transitions selectively, and ensure each paragraph develops one central point before moving on.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

You use an adequate range of vocabulary for the topic, including “financial resource,” “medical emergency,” “recklessly,” “financial freedom” and “blessing in disguise.” These choices communicate the main ideas, and some phrases show an attempt to use less common language. However, several spelling and word-choice errors reduce precision, including “cruicial,” “extreamly,” “everone” and “fullfill.” Some collocations are also unnatural: “in a longer run,” “many folds” and “full of energy” do not express the intended ideas as naturally as standard alternatives. Aim for accurate, natural combinations rather than adding ambitious phrases; careful proofreading would also help you correct spelling and improve the overall control of your vocabulary.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0

You use a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, including conditional structures such as “If a person spends all his earnings… he will not be able to manage a sudden expense” and a contrast introduced by “but.” Most sentences are understandable, and grammatical errors rarely obstruct the message. Some sentence patterns are less controlled, however. In “Not only it provides… but also creates,” the opening phrase requires inversion: “Not only does it provide… but it also creates.” The phrase “Parents that spend…” would be clearer as “Parents who spend…,” and “in a long run” needs the article “the.” Continue practising inversion, relative clauses and article use, while checking punctuation and sentence boundaries.
