Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
Your position is clear at the start: you strongly agree that young people should save, and you give relevant reasons, including financial security, emergencies, education and personal goals. The Sylhet flood and your mobile purchase provide examples, but the flood example is not clearly connected to young people’s own savings: you say students raised funds, rather than explaining how personal saving helped them. The discussion also ends abruptly, and some points are asserted rather than explained. The response is 30 words below the required minimum, so it does not fully develop its argument. Explain how saving benefits young people over time and add a concluding statement that restates your position.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a basic paragraph structure, moving from your opinion to reasons and then to further benefits. Linking expressions such as “Moreover,” “For example,” and “Despite this argument” show an attempt to connect ideas. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes difficult to follow: the flood example shifts from disaster to students’ fundraising without clarifying the link to saving. Some transitions are also awkward or do not accurately signal the relationship between ideas. The final paragraph stops at “Saving from an early age,” leaving the line of thought unfinished and the essay without a conclusion. Organise each paragraph around one clear reason, explain the example that supports it, and finish with a complete summary.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “financial security,” “emergencies,” “higher education,” and “unexpected expenses.” These choices help communicate the main ideas, but the range is limited and several inaccurate word choices or collocations make parts difficult to understand. For instance, “they funding from every where” does not clearly express how the students obtained or contributed money, while “bright future” and “helping hand” are broad or formulaic. Spelling errors such as “socaity,” “Perhaips,” and “messive” are also noticeable. Build a more precise range for discussing saving, and check spelling and natural word combinations before submitting.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt some longer sentences and use basic structures to express reasons and examples, but the range is limited and errors occur frequently, sometimes making meaning unclear. Examples include “I am strongly agree,” “children doing this,” and “The area had spend 10 days under the water,” where verb forms and sentence construction are faulty. There are also incomplete or unclear structures, such as “So should prepare for future for money or anything,” and the final fragment, “Saving from an early age.” These issues make it harder to follow your argument. Practise forming complete sentences with a clear subject and verb, and check agreement, tense, articles and sentence boundaries.
