Student answer (Band 5.5)

Many people tend to have a habit to save money for various means. It is good habit to hold money from my point of view because of its wide impacts. Many people think that saving money should be associated with some specific purpose or a desire but in my means it should not be linked with any mission.

Many of the times individuals save money for some kind of asset or any desirious emotion such as for buying a new car, a new brand iphone or a car. But we should save money without any purpose behind it instead for the future it helps a lot.

Storing money for the future gives you numerous oppurtunities. We do not know what is gonna happen next so in case of emergency it saves us from different debts. It often gives us wisdomness if not liked to a purpose.

For example you are doing a job at a company and you have money stored then you do not have any kind of fear of losing your job because in case you lose the job you can start new businneses or any kind of secure investment will not keep you broke. In contrast if you do not have a single penny of cash stored then you will fear to lose your job. Our religion Islam has told us to spend money in specific amount not too much nor too less. Your habits define how much you are passionate about money. If we will not save the money it will lead to numerous debts which will put a lot pressure at emergency times.

We must hold down the money and we should spend according to principles we have being tought by our religions. Saving money will always find out ways for you while otherwise if you will not do so then you will face certain circumstances then afterwards.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

Your position is clear: you agree that people should save, and you argue that savings are useful even without a specific purchase in mind. The examples of losing a job, avoiding debt and making an investment are relevant and help explain your view. However, the response focuses mainly on the general value of saving rather than fully addressing the statement’s emphasis on everyone, including young people. The point about young people is not developed, and the religious principle is introduced without explaining how it supports your argument. Some ideas, such as saving giving people “wisdomness,” are also unclear. To strengthen the response, explain why saving matters at different life stages and develop each example more precisely.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure, moving from your position to reasons and an example, and the job-loss scenario gives the discussion a useful focus. However, progression between ideas is uneven, and some links are mechanical or unclear. For instance, “In contrast” introduces a comparison, but the relationship between the two situations could be stated more directly. The final paragraph repeats the recommendation to save rather than drawing together the main reasons. References such as “it” in “it gives us wisdomness” are difficult to follow, and the religious point interrupts the example. Use clearer topic sentences, connect each paragraph to one main reason, and make pronoun references explicit.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant topic vocabulary, including “emergency,” “debts,” “investment” and “lose your job,” so the reader can understand the main argument. However, the range is limited and several inaccurate or unnatural choices make parts of the response difficult to interpret. Phrases such as “a habit to save,” “desirious emotion,” “wisdomness” and “hold down the money” do not express your meaning naturally. There are also spelling errors, including “oppurtunities,” “businneses” and “tought.” Aim for precise, common collocations rather than forcing unusual words, and check spelling carefully. This will make your ideas clearer and more appropriate for an academic essay.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and longer sentences, including conditional structures such as “if you lose the job you can start new businesses,” which shows an effort to express cause and consequence. However, the range is limited, and errors in sentence construction and verb forms recur. For example, “Many people tend to have a habit to save” uses an awkward grammatical pattern, while “if we will not save” and “we have being tought” show problems with verb forms. Some sentences also run together or lack clear punctuation, particularly the long job-loss example. Practise building accurate complex sentences with “if” clauses and use consistent subject–verb patterns; clearer sentence boundaries will also improve readability.
