Student answer (Band 5.0)

It is significant for all the persons to save money for their future needs, including children, youth and adults as well.I partially agree with the view because it has both advantages and disadvantages. As this savings will help young generation to fulfill their educational expenses and hospital bills in case of emergency. On the other hand, they have to limitise their desires and gatherings.

The most signifucant purpose of savings is that it helps us in case, when we need a huge amount of money at a sudden. For instance, whenever we interested to study abroad, or to study the best university of the country, then this savings will act like a miracle.

The second bigger benefit of savings is that, whenever we need a medical emergency ,for example in the case of sudden cardiovascular attack or any accident this will help us without begging infront of others.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0

You take a position by saying, “I partially agree,” and give relevant reasons: savings can support education and help with medical emergencies. However, the response addresses the task only partially. The disadvantages are mentioned briefly—“limitise their desires and gatherings”—but are not explained, and the two benefits receive little development beyond short examples. The prompt asks you to explain the extent of your agreement, so clarify whether the advantages outweigh the limits and support that judgement with fuller reasoning. The response is also 105 words below the required minimum, leaving too little space to develop your position, reasons, and examples. Add a conclusion and expand each main point with explanation and a specific example.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

Your ideas are grouped into paragraphs, and signposts such as “On the other hand,” “For instance,” and “The second bigger benefit” help readers recognise the intended sequence. This gives the response some organisation. However, the overall progression is limited: the opening introduces both advantages and disadvantages, but the body develops only advantages, with no concluding paragraph to bring your position together. Some links are mechanical or unclear, particularly the opening fragment beginning “As this savings…” and the transition to the disadvantage, which is not followed up. Build a clearer structure with an introduction, separate body paragraphs for your main reasons, and a conclusion. Use linking phrases to show relationships between fully explained ideas rather than as labels alone.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use some topic-related vocabulary, including “educational expenses,” “medical emergency,” “cardiovascular attack,” and “study abroad,” so the reader can understand the main subject and examples. There is also an attempt to vary expression with phrases such as “huge amount of money.” However, the range is limited, and several word choices, forms, and spellings are inaccurate or unnatural, including “limitise,” “signifucant,” “bigger benefit,” and “infront.” These errors make parts of the response less fluent and precise. Aim for standard collocations and check spelling carefully. For example, describe savings as helping people “cover tuition costs” or “meet unexpected medical expenses,” and use “restrict spending” to express the disadvantage more naturally.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a conditional example about studying abroad and a sentence introduced by “On the other hand.” However, complex structures are often faulty, and errors occur frequently enough to make some sentences difficult to follow. For example, “As this savings will help…” is an incomplete dependent clause, while “whenever we interested to study abroad” is missing a verb and uses an incorrect grammatical pattern. There are also problems with articles, agreement, and punctuation, as in “a medical emergency ,for example.” Practise completing each sentence with a main clause, and check verb forms and sentence boundaries. Short, accurate sentences will help you communicate your ideas clearly while you build more complex structures.
