Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

Your position is clear in the opening and conclusion: you fully agree that people should save for the future. You give relevant reasons, including financial difficulties, health problems, household expenses and supporting the next generation. These points show an understanding of the topic, but they are often asserted rather than explained. For example, the discussion of business losses and family problems does not include a specific example or clarify how savings would help in each case. The point about inherited wealth also shifts attention from saving one’s own money. To strengthen the response, develop fewer reasons in more detail, explain the link between each reason and your position, and include a relevant example. The task is addressed, but the ideas remain limited and under-developed.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, two body paragraphs signalled by “Firstly” and “Secondly,” and a conclusion. This gives the reader a basic route through your argument. However, progression within the body paragraphs is difficult to follow because several different points are joined into long, crowded sentences. For instance, the first body paragraph moves from business losses to family problems, then to future generations without clear separation or explanation. Linking phrases such as “at this time” and “the main thing is that” are repetitive or do not clearly show the relationship between ideas. Use shorter sentences, give each paragraph one main focus, and use referencing and transitions precisely. This would make the organisation clearer and reduce the effort needed to follow your reasoning.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You attempt vocabulary relevant to the topic, including “deposited amount,” “business losses,” “household needs” and “future generations.” These choices show that you can communicate the general subject, but the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate, sometimes making meaning unclear. For example, “gain helps from their inherited wealth” and “drive their home expenses” do not express the intended ideas naturally; “get support from savings” and “cover household expenses” would be clearer. Spelling errors such as “impoortnat,” “disgree” and “futurte” also occur repeatedly. Build a reliable set of topic vocabulary and check spelling, word forms and collocations. More precise phrasing would help you express your relevant ideas without ambiguity.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt to connect ideas in complex sentences, using clauses with “if” and “that,” and you also use simple statements to express your position. However, complex structures are often faulty, and frequent errors in sentence boundaries, agreement, articles and verb forms can make the argument difficult to read. For example, “this opportunity plays a vital role in the live’s of human beings, if they stuck” combines clauses incorrectly and omits the verb form needed after “they.” In “deposited money, can helps,” the comma is misplaced and the verb form is incorrect. Several sentences run on without full stops, particularly in the body paragraphs. Practise building accurate simple sentences first, then combine them with correctly formed subordinate clauses and consistent punctuation.
