Student answer (Band 5.5)
The pie chart provide information on the kinds of dance classes and also provide details about their location where youth are now attended their classes in a city of Australia.
Overall, young people are now attending their dance classes in several locations. There are following locations where youth are attending classes : community halls and other, school halls, college-based studios and private studios. The difference of dance classes is by age group. There are three different types of dance classes in a town of Australia. Ballet, Tap and Modern these are the different classes where young people are currently going for dance classes.
Recording the location of dance classes private studios were very popular among all of them because of their higher percentage. 48% people went to practice dance in this location. School halls got second ranked because 24% youth are attended their classes after school timing. The percentage of community hall and other is 18%. in contrast with others college-based studios had fewer proportion just 10%.
There are two age groups number one is under 11 years and second is 11-16 years old. If we compared these two age groups there are 600 students under 11 years who attended Ballet classes and only 300 students from 11-16 years old are attended Ballet class. In Tap classes there are approximately 450 under 11 years students are admitted and approximately 430 students of 11-16 years are in this class. Modern class have also limited students of under 11 years and higher number of student are 11-16 years.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You cover both charts and report several accurate figures, including the 48% share for private studios, 24% for school halls, and the ballet figures of 600 and 300 for the two age groups. You also identify the broad contrast that younger students favour ballet more, while older students have more modern students. However, the overview mainly lists categories rather than highlighting the key patterns, and the modern comparison is left without figures (about 300 under 11 versus 520 aged 11–16). The tap figure for the older group is also given as approximately 430, whereas the chart indicates about 420. To strengthen the response, make the main contrasts explicit in the overview and support each comparison with accurate data.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, an overview, a paragraph about locations, and a paragraph comparing age groups. This makes the information generally easy to follow. You also use basic linking expressions such as “Overall,” “In contrast,” and “If we compared.” However, the overview repeats the chart categories instead of synthesising the main findings, and some transitions are awkward or mechanical. For example, “There are following locations” and “There are two age groups number one…” interrupt the flow. The final paragraph moves through ballet, tap, and modern, but the comparisons are not consistently developed. Grouping the location figures together and then comparing the dance styles in a clear order would improve progression and cohesion.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use relevant topic vocabulary, including “private studios,” “college-based studios,” “percentage,” and the names of the dance styles, so the reader can understand the subject. There is also some attempt to vary wording with phrases such as “higher proportion” and “in contrast.” However, several choices are unnatural or imprecise, including “got second ranked,” “admitted” for students taking classes, and “limited students” to describe a lower number. Repetition of “dance classes,” “students,” and “attended” also limits flexibility. Aim for accurate chart-reporting collocations such as “accounted for,” “enrolled in,” and “the figure for,” while avoiding expressions that suggest unsupported reasons or actions.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including a comparison beginning “If we compared these two age groups,” and the main meaning is usually recoverable. However, errors in verb forms, agreement, articles, and sentence construction are noticeable. For example, “The pie chart provide” needs subject–verb agreement, while “youth are attended” and “students … are attended” use an incorrect passive form. The sentence “Ballet, Tap and Modern these are the different classes” is also poorly constructed, and “Modern class have” has an agreement error. Use straightforward reporting patterns such as “The chart shows…” and “There were…”; then check each sentence for a clear subject, a correctly formed verb, and appropriate punctuation.
