Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

You cover both charts and identify several important features: private studios are the largest location category at 48%, college-based studios are smallest at 10%, and the preferred dance styles differ by age group. The comparisons for the bar chart are broadly accurate, although the figures for the older group are imprecise: ballet is about 300 and tap about 420, rather than around 400 and 300 respectively. The overview also says ballet is the favourite among the youngest, but does not clearly state that modern leads among 11–16-year-olds. Your location summary combines school halls and community halls correctly to about 42%, but calling these “the area” is unclear. More precise comparisons and a complete overview would strengthen the report.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a clear overall structure, with an introduction, an overview, and separate paragraphs describing the two charts. This makes the information easy to follow, and phrases such as “Looking first” and “After that” signal the shift between charts. However, these transitions are somewhat mechanical, and the final paragraph moves through the age groups and dance styles without a fully consistent comparison pattern. For example, the older group’s ballet and tap figures are presented in reverse order, which makes the comparison harder to track. Use a more systematic sequence—compare each dance style across the two age groups—and connect the overview directly to the main contrasts.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

You use a reasonable range of task-related vocabulary, including “proportion,” “preferred,” “occupied,” and “engaged,” and the meaning is generally clear. There are, however, several spelling errors, including “bart,” “varities,” “prefered,” and “leas.” Some word choices and collocations are also unnatural: “the highest proportion of the area is occupied” does not describe the share of classes clearly, and “most favourite” is redundant. Repeated use of “around” also limits precision. Choose concise chart language such as “accounted for,” “the largest share,” and “approximately,” and check spelling and natural combinations before submitting. This would make the vocabulary more accurate and flexible.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt a mix of simple and more complex sentences, including a contrast with “while” and a clause beginning “whereas.” Most of the information remains understandable, but some grammatical errors recur. In the opening, the compound subject “The pie chart and bar chart” requires “provide,” not “provides.” The overview fragment “Additionally, ballet dance being…” needs a finite verb, such as “Additionally, ballet is…”. There are also agreement and article problems in “college-based studios has” and “the age of 11 to 16 groups.” Sentence boundaries and punctuation are mostly manageable, but greater control of complete clauses and subject–verb agreement is needed. Practise checking each sentence for a clear subject and finite verb.
