Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0

The response successfully identifies the main features of both charts. You have provided a clear overview and supported your points with relevant data from the visuals. However, there are some minor inaccuracies in the interpretation of the data; for instance, you state that 'Ballet has the most significant figure of young dancers' in the overview, but the bar chart shows that the total number of dancers is split by age group, and the data for the two age groups combined needs to be carefully compared. Additionally, the description of the bar chart data could be more precise regarding the age categories. Overall, the task is well-addressed, but a more careful synthesis of the data would improve the clarity of your comparisons.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0

The essay is logically organized into an introduction, an overview, and two body paragraphs focusing on the two distinct charts. The progression of ideas is generally clear. You use some cohesive devices such as 'while', 'whereas', and 'compared with this' to link information. However, there are some mechanical errors in the use of punctuation and transitions, such as the awkward phrasing 'Although, modern dance has...' and 'While,College-based studios...'. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring correct punctuation after introductory clauses would help the flow of the text and move your score higher.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.5

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'proportion', 'represent', and 'considerably'. There are some minor errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'children attendence' (attendance) and 'most significant figure' (which is slightly imprecise in this context). You also repeat the word 'highest' and 'lowest' frequently. To improve, try to use a wider variety of synonyms to describe data trends and ensure that your word forms are accurate. The vocabulary used is sufficient to convey your meaning clearly, but it lacks the sophistication required for a higher band.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5

The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are several grammatical errors, such as 'children age of 11-16' (should be 'aged 11-16'), 'ballet class had 300 attendences' (attendance), and missing articles (e.g., 'in ballet' vs 'in the ballet class'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with comma usage after introductory phrases. Despite these errors, the grammar does not impede communication. To reach a higher band, focus on ensuring subject-verb agreement and refining the use of articles and prepositions.
