Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

The response covers the main features of the charts, identifying the most popular locations and dance types. However, the analysis is somewhat superficial. For instance, while you mention the percentages for locations, the comparison of dance types by age group is confusingly phrased (e.g., 'the ballet was by under 11 age'). The data interpretation lacks precision in places, and the overview could be more clearly integrated. To improve, ensure that all data points are described accurately and that comparisons between categories are explicitly stated rather than just listing figures. The response addresses the prompt but lacks the depth required for a higher band.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is organised into logical paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. There is a clear attempt to use cohesive devices (e.g., 'Regarding', 'while', 'respectively'), though some transitions are mechanical or slightly awkward, such as 'From other chart'. Referencing is generally clear, but the flow between sentences could be improved by using a wider variety of linking words to connect ideas more fluidly. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the location data from the dance type data, which is a positive feature of your writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, such as 'proportion', 'accounted for', and 'categories'. However, there are noticeable errors in word choice and collocation that occasionally impede clarity, such as 'experienced for the highest proportion' and 'were contributed at'. These errors suggest a limited control over more sophisticated lexical items. To reach a higher band, focus on using collocations correctly and avoiding repetitive phrasing. Expanding your range to include more precise descriptive verbs and nouns related to data reporting will also be beneficial.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with verb forms and prepositions (e.g., 'The pie charts and bar chart illustrates', 'which represents by age groups', 'the ballet was by under 11 age'). These errors are persistent throughout the text. While the meaning is generally understandable, the frequency of these slips prevents the writing from reaching a higher band. Focus on subject-verb agreement and ensuring that your sentence constructions are grammatically sound before attempting more complex structures.
