Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses the task by summarizing the provided charts. You have identified the main trends, such as the preference for ballet among younger children and modern dance among the 11-16 age group. However, the report is somewhat disjointed. While you mention the location of classes, the data is presented in a fragmented way, particularly the reference to 'a quarter' and the percentages for community halls, which lack clear context or comparison. To improve, ensure that all data points are clearly linked to the categories provided in the charts and avoid leaving information incomplete or confusingly placed within the paragraphs.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into paragraphs, which is a positive step. However, the flow of ideas is often interrupted by awkward phrasing and a lack of smooth transitions. While you use some cohesive devices like 'Firstly' and 'secondly', the internal structure of the sentences makes it difficult to follow the logic. For example, the transition between discussing dance types and locations is abrupt. Improving the use of linking words and ensuring that each paragraph has a clear, unified focus would significantly enhance the readability and logical progression of your report.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
Your vocabulary is generally adequate to convey the basic meaning, but it is quite repetitive and contains several errors in word choice and spelling (e.g., 'atttending', 'focoused', 'modren', 'roufghly'). You rely on simple descriptors and struggle with precise terminology for data reporting. To reach a higher band, you should aim to use a wider range of vocabulary to describe trends, such as 'predominant', 'fluctuate', or 'proportion'. Additionally, careful proofreading is necessary to correct basic spelling mistakes that distract the reader from your analysis.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The response contains a mix of simple and some attempted complex structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout. Issues include incorrect subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'The charts illustrates'), missing articles, and awkward sentence construction (e.g., 'playing efficiently role'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with spaces placed incorrectly before commas. While these errors do not completely prevent the reader from understanding the main points, they occur frequently enough to impact the overall clarity and professional tone of the writing. Focusing on basic sentence structure and subject-verb agreement will help improve your accuracy.
