Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

You have successfully identified the main features of the charts and provided a clear overview. You included data from both the location chart and the dance type chart, making relevant comparisons. However, the response lacks a clear summary or 'overview' paragraph at the beginning, which is essential for a high band score. Additionally, some data points, such as the specific numbers for dance types, could be presented more clearly to ensure the reader can easily follow the comparison between age groups. To improve, ensure you group information logically and provide a distinct summary of the main trends before diving into the specific details.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The response is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. You use some cohesive devices like 'However', 'Also', and 'Furthermore' to link ideas. However, the progression of ideas is sometimes a bit mechanical, and the transition between the two charts could be smoother. The referencing is generally clear, but the flow between sentences could be improved by using a wider variety of linking words and ensuring that each paragraph has a clear topic sentence. The overall arrangement is logical, but the connection between the two distinct charts could be more explicitly stated.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

You have an adequate range of vocabulary to convey the information, such as 'illustrate', 'academies', and 'interested'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and phrasing, such as 'different source of dance academies' and 'most about of students'. The use of 'disappointing' is subjective and not appropriate for an objective data report. To reach a higher band, focus on using more precise academic collocations and avoid informal or evaluative language. Expanding your range of synonyms for 'increase', 'decrease', and 'proportion' would also be beneficial.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, such as 'Ballet have most number' (subject-verb agreement), 'aproximately' (spelling), and 'Modern have just 300 students' (missing article). While these errors do not prevent the reader from understanding the main points, they are frequent enough to impact the overall fluency. To improve, pay closer attention to subject-verb agreement, the use of articles, and consistent tense usage when describing data. Proofreading for minor slips in spelling and punctuation will also help improve your score.
