Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response attempts to address the task by summarizing the provided charts. However, the information is often inaccurate or poorly interpreted. For example, the description of the bar chart data is confusing and does not clearly distinguish between the age groups or the dance types. The overview is missing, and the report lacks a clear summary of the main trends. The data points mentioned (e.g., '600 plus students') do not seem to align with the visual information provided. To improve, focus on identifying the most significant features—such as the most popular location or the highest participation age group—and present these clearly without attempting to list every single figure.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organized into paragraphs, but the progression of ideas is disjointed. The use of cohesive devices is limited and often mechanical or misused, such as 'Now, numbers of student' and 'other participations is around 18%'. The referencing is sometimes unclear, making it difficult for the reader to follow the comparison between the different age groups and dance types. Paragraphing is present, but the internal structure of the paragraphs lacks logical flow. Improving the use of linking words (e.g., 'furthermore', 'in contrast', 'consequently') would help create a more cohesive response.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is limited and repetitive, which restricts the ability to convey information precisely. There are several instances of awkward word choices and incorrect collocations, such as 'there are given data by using of pie chart' and 'much populer amog'. The student struggles to use academic vocabulary appropriate for a data report. To reach a higher band, the student should focus on learning specific terminology for describing trends and proportions, such as 'the majority of', 'a significant proportion', 'fluctuated', or 'remained stable', rather than relying on basic descriptive language.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The response contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede communication. There are consistent issues with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'other participations is'), article usage, and sentence structure. Many sentences are fragmented or lack the necessary complexity to demonstrate a range of structures. For example, 'there are number of under age is much involve in ballet' is grammatically incorrect and unclear. To improve, the student needs to focus on basic sentence construction, ensuring that every sentence has a clear subject and verb, and practicing the correct use of prepositions and pluralization.
