Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.5
You have successfully identified the main features of both charts and provided relevant comparisons. You clearly highlighted the most popular location (private studios) and the trends in dance types across the two age groups. However, the report could be improved by ensuring data accuracy; for instance, you mentioned '600 students' for ballet, but the chart scale indicates 600 as a maximum, and the bar is slightly below that. Additionally, ensure you avoid subjective language like 'interesting' or 'not far away,' as the task requires an objective summary of the data. Overall, you have covered all parts of the prompt well.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The response is logically organized with a clear introduction, an overview, and body paragraphs that group information by chart type. You use some cohesive devices such as 'whereas,' 'overall,' and 'coming to,' which help the reader follow the progression of ideas. However, the transition between the overview and the body paragraphs could be smoother. Some referencing is slightly repetitive, and the use of cohesive devices is sometimes a bit mechanical. Improving the variety of linking words would help elevate the flow of the text.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
You have used an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, such as 'proportion,' 'illustrates,' and 'preferable.' However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'acquire the largest share of location' (studios do not acquire a share of location; they represent a share of the total) and 'dancers of this group doesn't consider ballet' (which is slightly unnatural). To reach a higher band, focus on using more precise academic collocations and avoiding informal phrasing like 'not far away' or 'utmost.'
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5
You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are several grammatical errors, such as subject-verb agreement issues ('Private studios is,' 'dancers... doesn't consider') and minor errors with articles and plurals ('the proportion of location,' 'peoples'). These errors do not impede communication, but they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score. To improve, focus on ensuring that subjects and verbs agree and that plural nouns are used correctly in an academic context.
