Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.5

You have successfully identified the main features of both charts and provided a clear overview. You included relevant data points for both the locations and the dance types. However, to reach a higher band, you should focus more on making direct comparisons between the categories rather than just listing the figures. For example, you could have explicitly contrasted the popularity of modern dance between the two age groups or noted that private studios were more than twice as popular as school halls. The information is accurate and covers all parts of the prompt well.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 8.0

The response is logically organized with a clear introduction, an overview, and two body paragraphs focusing on the two distinct charts. The use of cohesive devices such as 'Overall', 'whereas', 'Moreover', and 'Furthermore' helps the reader follow the progression of information. The paragraphing is appropriate, and the flow of ideas is smooth. To improve, ensure that the transition between the two charts is slightly more integrated, perhaps by using a linking sentence that bridges the transition from location data to dance type data.

Lexical Resource — Band 7.5

You have used a sufficient range of vocabulary to convey the information clearly, including terms like 'accounted for', 'opted for', 'represented', and 'enrolled'. The vocabulary is appropriate for an Academic Task 1 report. There are no significant errors in word choice or spelling. To move into the higher bands, try to incorporate more sophisticated collocations or synonyms to avoid repeating 'young people' and 'students' frequently throughout the text.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 8.0

Your grammar is generally accurate, and you have used a mix of simple and complex sentence structures effectively. Most of your sentences are error-free, and the punctuation is handled well. There is a good variety of structures, such as the use of 'while' and 'whereas' to create complex sentences. The control of tense is consistent with the requirements of a report. There are no major grammatical errors that impede communication, and the overall quality of the writing is strong.
