Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

The response addresses the task by summarizing the provided charts. You successfully identified the main features, such as the popularity of private studios and the age-related trends in dance styles. However, the report lacks a clear, analytical overview. While you mention that 'mostly people prefer private studios', you could improve by grouping the data more effectively rather than listing figures in a repetitive manner. Some data points are slightly inaccurate compared to the charts (e.g., the modern dance figure for 11-16 year olds is 500, but you stated 520). To reach a higher band, ensure your data selection is precise and your overview highlights the most significant trends rather than just listing individual statistics.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The response is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat mechanical and repetitive. For example, you frequently start sentences with 'There are' or 'And'. The logical progression between ideas could be smoother; the transition between the location data and the dance type data is abrupt. To improve, try using a wider variety of linking words and phrases such as 'In contrast', 'Furthermore', or 'Regarding the distribution of...'. Improving the flow between sentences will help create a more professional and cohesive report.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.5

Your vocabulary is adequate for the task, allowing you to convey the main points clearly. You use topic-specific terms like 'participants', 'professional training', and 'community hall'. However, there is a lack of variety in your word choice, and you rely on simple descriptors like 'famous' or 'favorite' when 'popular' or 'preferred' would be more appropriate. There are also some minor errors in collocation, such as 'mostly people' instead of 'the majority of people'. To achieve a higher score, aim to incorporate more precise academic vocabulary and avoid repetitive phrasing.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

You demonstrate a mix of simple and some complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'people mostly prefer... as they give', 'kids who takes classes') and article usage. Some sentences are slightly awkward, such as 'The figure illustrates on the location', which should be 'The figure illustrates the location'. While these errors do not prevent the reader from understanding your meaning, they occur frequently enough to limit the score. Focusing on proofreading for basic subject-verb agreement and preposition usage will significantly improve your accuracy.
