Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.5
The response successfully addresses all parts of the task. You have identified the main features of both the pie chart and the bar chart and provided relevant comparisons. The overview is clear and highlights the most significant trends, such as the dominance of private studios and the age-related preferences in dance styles. However, the description of the data could be more precise; for instance, stating '600 numbers' is slightly awkward, and the comparison of 'moderately performed' is vague. To reach a higher band, ensure that data points are integrated more smoothly into the analysis rather than just listing them. Overall, you have provided a solid summary of the information presented.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The response is logically organized with a clear introduction, overview, and body paragraphs. You use cohesive devices such as 'In contrast', 'Regarding', and 'In detail' to guide the reader through the information. However, some transitions feel a bit mechanical, and the paragraphing could be improved by ensuring each paragraph focuses on a distinct aspect of the data. The referencing is generally clear, though some sentences are slightly repetitive in their structure. Improving the variety of linking phrases and ensuring a smoother flow between sentences would enhance the overall coherence of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'constituted', 'proportions', and 'significantly'. There are some instances of slightly unnatural word choices, such as 'highly participated' instead of 'showed a high level of participation' or '600 numbers' instead of 'a figure of 600'. While these errors do not impede communication, they limit the precision of your report. To improve, focus on using more academic collocations and varying your verbs to describe trends, rather than relying on 'participated' repeatedly throughout the text.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, which is appropriate for this task. There are some grammatical errors, such as 'the bar chart provides the information about number of students' (missing 'the') and 'by aged 11-16' (incorrect preposition usage). Additionally, some phrasing is slightly awkward, such as 'students... participated significantly at 48%'. Despite these errors, your meaning is always clear, and the mistakes do not significantly impede understanding. To achieve a higher score, work on subject-verb agreement and the correct use of articles and prepositions in statistical descriptions.
