Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
You have successfully identified the main features of the charts, including the locations of dance classes and the preferences by age group. You provided relevant data points to support your summary. However, there are some inaccuracies in your reporting; for instance, you mention '600 students' for the under-11 age group, but the chart indicates 600 is the total number of students in that category, not the number preferring ballet. Additionally, some comparisons are slightly confusing, such as 'half ratio'. To reach a higher band, ensure that data is interpreted precisely and that comparisons are clearly articulated.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The response is organised into logical paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the information. You use some cohesive devices like 'Overall', 'Additionally', and 'Furthermore' to link ideas. However, the flow is occasionally hindered by awkward phrasing and some mechanical transitions. For example, 'Innitially' is misspelled, and the connection between sentences in the second paragraph is somewhat disjointed. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring that each paragraph has a clear, unified focus will enhance the overall coherence of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'depicts', 'enrolled', and 'preference'. However, there are several instances of word-choice errors and spelling mistakes, such as 'resently' (recently), 'youngster' (youngsters), 'scholars' (students), and 'laste' (last). Some phrases are also unnatural, such as 'which was rose by'. To improve, focus on using more precise terminology for describing trends and ensure that your spelling is accurate. Expanding your range of synonyms for 'increase' and 'decrease' would also be beneficial.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text. Issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'the youngster are learning'), article usage (e.g., 'in a Australia'), and tense consistency. Some sentences are difficult to parse due to these errors, such as 'the age between 11 to 16, they are more likely to learn'. While the meaning is generally clear, the frequency of errors is high. Focusing on basic sentence construction and proofreading for subject-verb agreement will help improve your score.
