Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses the task by summarizing the provided charts, but the analysis is somewhat superficial. While you identify the main features, such as the popularity of private studios and the distribution of dance types, the reporting of data is occasionally imprecise or confusing. For example, stating that 'community halls & other location of dance classes around 18%' lacks a clear subject, and the comparison of dance types is slightly disjointed. To reach a higher band, ensure that all data points are clearly linked to their respective categories and that the overview provides a more cohesive summary of the main trends rather than just listing individual figures.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate, such as 'Accordingly, after schools halls are similerlly at 24%'. The logical progression between sentences is sometimes hindered by awkward phrasing and missing articles or prepositions. While the overall arrangement is coherent enough to follow, the lack of sophisticated linking words and the repetitive nature of the sentence structures limit the flow. Improving the variety of transition signals and ensuring clear referencing would significantly enhance the coherence of your writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary used is adequate for the task but remains quite basic and repetitive. There are several spelling errors, such as 'peopole', 'stoudis', 'similerlly', and 'approximetlly', which distract the reader. You rely on simple descriptors like 'highest number' and 'lowest percenta\ge'. To improve, you should aim to use a wider range of vocabulary to describe trends, such as 'predominant', 'account for', 'a significant proportion', or 'fluctuate'. Additionally, ensure that you use technical terms accurately in the context of the data provided to demonstrate a more precise command of the language.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The response contains a mix of simple and some attempted complex structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout. Issues include missing articles ('the main location of dance academy'), incorrect verb forms ('the number of students are'), and punctuation errors, such as missing spaces after commas. These errors are noticeable and occasionally make the meaning slightly difficult to grasp. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement and the correct use of prepositions. Increasing the variety of sentence structures while ensuring they are error-free will help you move toward a higher band score.
