Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response covers all parts of the task by identifying the main features of both charts. You successfully highlight the most popular locations and dance types, and you make relevant comparisons between the age groups. However, the report lacks a clear, analytical overview. While you mention some data, the summary is somewhat disjointed. To improve, ensure that the overview clearly synthesizes the data rather than just listing facts. Additionally, there are some inaccuracies in data reporting, such as stating 'Ballet dance have maximum under 11 students' while later providing specific figures that could be better integrated into a more cohesive narrative structure.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the information. However, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat mechanical and occasionally inaccurate. For example, the transition 'Whereas, Ballet dance have...' is used incorrectly, as 'whereas' is a contrastive conjunction that does not fit the context here. Additionally, the referencing is sometimes unclear, and the flow between sentences could be smoother. To reach a higher band, focus on using a wider range of linking words more naturally and ensure that each paragraph has a clear, singular focus that progresses logically from the previous one.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The range of vocabulary is adequate for the task, but it is somewhat repetitive and lacks precision. You rely on basic terms like 'top list', 'least priority', and 'quantity'. There are also some errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'least strength of under 16 students' and 'currenting attending'. To improve, try to incorporate more sophisticated vocabulary related to data description, such as 'predominant', 'marginal', or 'account for'. Expanding your range of synonyms for 'most popular' or 'least common' will help demonstrate a higher level of lexical control.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'Private studios is', 'Ballet dance have'), incorrect article usage, and awkward phrasing (e.g., 'the place and location of the dance classes'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with comma placement. While the meaning is generally understandable, the frequency of these errors prevents the response from reaching a higher band. Focusing on basic subject-verb agreement and proofreading for small grammatical slips will significantly improve your score.
