Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response covers the main features of both charts, identifying the most popular locations and dance types. However, the analysis is somewhat superficial. For instance, while you mention the percentages for locations, the comparison between age groups for dance types is slightly confusing due to the phrasing 'least strength of under 16 students' and 'maximum under 11 students'. To reach a higher band, ensure that data points are clearly linked to the categories and that comparisons are more precise. The overview is present but could be more effectively integrated to highlight the most significant trends rather than just listing them.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organised into logical paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the information. However, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat mechanical and occasionally repetitive (e.g., 'and' is used frequently to join clauses). Transitions between sentences could be smoother to improve the flow of ideas. For example, the shift from discussing locations to dance types in the second paragraph is abrupt. Using a wider variety of linking words such as 'consequently', 'in contrast', or 'furthermore' would help to better connect the information and improve the overall structure.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, but it lacks the precision and variety required for a higher band. Phrases like 'top list', 'least priority', and 'most favourite' are functional but basic. There are also some awkward collocations, such as 'least strength of under 16 students' and 'quantity of 300', which do not sound natural in an academic context. To improve, focus on using more sophisticated descriptors and precise terminology related to data reporting, such as 'predominant', 'account for', or 'the lowest proportion'.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally hinder clarity. Issues include subject-verb agreement ('private studio are', 'College studio are'), incorrect preposition usage ('on the top list'), and awkward phrasing ('who are currenting attending'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with comma placement. While the meaning is generally clear, the frequency of these errors prevents the writing from achieving a higher score. Focusing on proofreading for basic agreement and article usage would significantly improve the accuracy of your writing.
