Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
The response is excellent and fully addresses all parts of the task. You have provided a clear overview that highlights the most significant trends in both charts. The data is accurately selected and reported, with effective comparisons made between the two age groups (e.g., noting that modern dance is the least popular for the younger group but the most popular for the older group). The information is well-supported by the figures provided in the charts, and the structure allows for a logical flow of information. There are no omissions, and the key features are clearly identified, meeting the requirements for a high band score.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The response is logically organized with a clear progression of ideas. You have used paragraphing effectively to separate the two distinct datasets (locations and dance styles). Cohesive devices such as 'whereas', 'in terms of', 'regarding', and 'in contrast' are used naturally to link ideas and guide the reader through the report. The transition between the overview and the detailed body paragraphs is smooth, and the referencing is precise. The overall structure is coherent, and the information is presented in a way that is easy to follow, demonstrating a high level of control over the organization of the text.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You have demonstrated a sufficient range of vocabulary to convey information with precision. Phrases such as 'account for the largest proportion', 'representing 24% of classes', and 'attracting approximately 500 students' are used accurately and appropriately for an academic report. The vocabulary is varied and avoids unnecessary repetition. While the range is solid, incorporating a few more sophisticated collocations or synonyms for 'popular' (such as 'favoured' or 'preferred') could elevate the response further. However, the current usage is precise and error-free, which is highly effective for this task type.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5
The response exhibits a wide range of grammatical structures with a high degree of accuracy. You have successfully used complex sentences, such as 'The graph illustrates the locations where young people... while the bar chart compares...', and maintained control over punctuation and tense usage throughout. The majority of your sentences are error-free, and the few complex structures used are handled with confidence. There are no noticeable grammatical slips that impede communication, and the control over sentence variety contributes to the professional tone of the report.
