Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response addresses the task by summarizing the provided charts. You have identified the main features, such as the popularity of private studios and the age-related trends in dance styles. However, the report lacks precision in data reporting. For instance, you mention '600 members' for Ballet under 11, but the chart indicates 600 students, and your description of the age groups is somewhat confusing. To reach a higher band, ensure that all data points are clearly linked to the correct categories and that comparisons are more explicitly stated rather than just listing percentages.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate, such as 'In,three different Ballet' and 'In student choose to practice'. The flow between sentences is frequently interrupted by awkward phrasing and punctuation errors, which makes the progression of ideas feel disjointed. Improving the use of linking words like 'furthermore', 'conversely', or 'in contrast' would help create a smoother logical progression throughout the report.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is generally limited and repetitive. You rely on basic terms like 'practice dance' and 'types', which are used multiple times. There are also issues with word choice and collocation, such as 'very less students' instead of 'very few students' and 'high remaining types' which is unclear. To improve, you should aim to use a wider range of vocabulary related to data description, such as 'predominant', 'account for', 'a significant proportion', or 'fluctuate'.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, including issues with subject-verb agreement ('most of the Ballet... practice dance'), sentence fragments, and incorrect preposition usage. The sentence structures are largely simple, and attempts at more complex sentences often result in errors that impede clarity, such as 'In student choose to practice they dance in different locations'. Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with the placement of commas and periods. Focusing on basic sentence construction and subject-verb agreement will significantly improve your score.
