Student answer (Band 6.5)
The given pie chart and table illustrate the information on the location of dance classes in a town in Australia attended by the young people, and the breakup of the types of dance forms practiced.
Overall, it can be observed that most of the youth prefer investing their time in going to private studios rather than public classes. Besides, it is clear that ballet is the most popular dance form, throughout the period. Meanwhile, tap is attended by the all age groups.
In detail, private studios witness the most attendance with approximately 48% of the total. Meanwhile, less than one-third of children, around 24% love to attend dance classes in their own school halls after school hours. In stark contrast, college-based studios are the least popular and only around 10% of children tends to attend. In addition, publicly available community halls has only 18% attendance in total, marking the second lowest location in Australia.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
You have successfully identified the main features of both the pie chart and the table. You provided a clear overview and supported your points with relevant data. However, there are some inaccuracies in your interpretation of the data. For instance, you mention 'growth' in attendance for ballet, but the chart provides a snapshot of current attendance, not a trend over time. Additionally, your claim that tap is attended by 'all age groups' is slightly imprecise given the data categories. To improve, ensure you strictly describe the data provided without inferring temporal changes (like 'growth') unless the chart explicitly shows a timeline.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The response is logically organized into clear paragraphs, each focusing on a specific aspect of the data. You use a range of cohesive devices such as 'In detail,' 'In stark contrast,' and 'Delving deeper' to guide the reader. However, some transitions feel slightly mechanical, and the referencing is occasionally unclear, such as the phrase 'throughout the period' in the introduction, which is not supported by the static nature of the charts. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring they accurately reflect the relationship between ideas will help elevate your score.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'witness,' 'significant,' and 'breakup' appropriately. There are some minor errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'investing their time in going to' (which is wordy) and 'all age groups of children love to participate' (which is slightly informal for an academic report). To reach a higher band, focus on using more precise academic collocations and avoid repetitive phrasing. Your spelling is generally accurate, which is a positive aspect of your writing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While your meaning is generally clear, there are several grammatical errors, such as subject-verb agreement issues ('only around 10% of children tends to attend' should be 'tend') and article usage ('has only 18% attendance' should be 'has only an 18% attendance rate'). Additionally, 'publicly available community halls has' should be 'have'. These errors do not impede communication, but they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score. Focus on proofreading for subject-verb agreement and pluralization.
