Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response provides a clear overview and identifies the main features of the charts. You successfully highlighted the dominance of private studios and the contrasting preferences between children and teenagers regarding dance types. However, the report lacks precision in some areas; for example, you mention '48%' for private studios but do not explicitly contrast this with the other categories (community centers and schools) to provide a complete picture. Additionally, the data for age groups is presented, but the comparison between the two groups could be more analytical. To reach a higher band, ensure all data points are accurately transcribed and comparisons are more explicitly linked to the provided figures.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, with an introduction, an overview, and body paragraphs focusing on location and age groups. Cohesive devices such as 'In terms of', 'Furthermore', and 'Regarding' are used to guide the reader. However, the flow is occasionally hindered by mechanical errors in punctuation and spacing (e.g., missing spaces after commas). The referencing is generally clear, but the transition between the overview and the body paragraphs could be smoother. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring consistent paragraph structure would enhance the overall coherence of the response.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'dominated', 'proportions', and 'participating'. However, there are several instances of awkward word choices and spelling errors, such as 'colege' instead of 'college', 'studies' instead of 'studios', and 'propportion'. These errors do not impede communication, but they do limit the precision of your report. To improve, focus on using more precise collocations and ensure you proofread for spelling accuracy. Expanding your vocabulary to include more varied ways of describing trends and proportions would also be beneficial.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The response uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'This trend are opposed', 'dances has') and article usage. Punctuation is also inconsistent, with several missing spaces after commas and periods. While the meaning remains clear, these errors are noticeable and occur throughout the text. To reach a higher band, you should focus on mastering basic subject-verb agreement and ensuring that your punctuation follows standard conventions. Increasing the variety of complex sentence structures while maintaining accuracy will also help improve your score.
