Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response covers all parts of the task by identifying the main features of both charts. However, the analysis is somewhat inconsistent. While you correctly identify the highest and lowest categories in the pie chart, the description of the bar chart is confusing. For instance, stating 'half of numbers of that kids loves Modern dance' is vague and lacks precision. Furthermore, the summary in the final paragraph is inaccurate; you state that 'Tap dance' is the most common choice, but the bar chart shows that Ballet is significantly more popular across both age groups. To improve, ensure that your data reporting is precise and that your overall summary accurately reflects the trends shown in the visual data.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The response is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate. Phrases like 'In oppose' and 'In horizontal bar chart' are awkward and do not function well as transitions. Additionally, the referencing is sometimes unclear; for example, 'above them two type of dance' is difficult to follow. While there is a logical progression from the pie chart to the bar chart, the lack of sophisticated linking words and the occasional misuse of cohesive devices limit the flow of the essay. Improving the variety and accuracy of your linking phrases will help achieve a higher band.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks the precision required for a higher band. There are several instances of word-choice errors and non-standard collocations, such as 'peoples' (should be 'people'), 'after schools off', 'Collage students', and 'Modern way'. The use of 'subtle to youngster peoples' is also unclear and does not accurately describe the data. To improve, focus on using more precise terminology for describing charts, such as 'proportion', 'account for', 'the majority', and 'the minority'. Expanding your range of academic vocabulary and ensuring correct word forms will significantly enhance your score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Issues include subject-verb agreement ('The given charts depicts'), incorrect article usage ('In pie chart'), and awkward phrasing ('Maximum numbers of kids approxly 600'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, and some sentences are fragmented or poorly constructed, such as 'Tap dance have medium number of toddler of above them two type of dance'. While the meaning is generally understandable, the high frequency of errors in basic grammar and sentence structure prevents the response from reaching a higher band. Focus on proofreading for subject-verb agreement and correct preposition usage.
