Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

The response effectively covers all parts of the task. You have successfully identified the main features of both the pie chart and the bar chart, providing a clear overview and supporting details with relevant data. The comparison between age groups and dance types is well-executed. To reach a higher band, ensure that you avoid minor inaccuracies in data reporting; for instance, you mentioned 'college-based studios' as the least used, which is correct, but ensure that all comparisons are precise. The summary is well-structured and addresses the prompt requirements comprehensively.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is logically organized, with a clear introduction, an overview, and two body paragraphs focusing on the distinct charts. The progression of ideas is easy to follow. You use cohesive devices such as 'in contrast', 'while', and 'whereas' to link ideas effectively. However, the flow could be improved by using a wider variety of linking phrases to avoid repetitive structures. Paragraphing is used appropriately, and the overall structure supports the reader's understanding of the data presented.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'accounted for', 'engaged', and 'participated'. There are some minor issues with word choice and collocation, such as 'the least location that was used' (which is slightly awkward) and 'filled with' (which is informal for a data report). To improve, try to incorporate more precise academic vocabulary related to trends and data analysis. The spelling is generally accurate, and the vocabulary used is sufficient to convey the intended meaning clearly.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The response uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is always clear, there are several grammatical errors, such as 'youths in in a particular town' (repetition), 'the bar chart illustrate' (subject-verb agreement error), and 'the modern dance classes was filled' (subject-verb agreement). Additionally, 'in between age 11-16' is slightly unidiomatic. Increasing the frequency of error-free complex sentences and proofreading for subject-verb agreement would significantly improve your score in this criterion.
