Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response covers the main features of the charts, including the location of classes and the types of dance. However, the analysis is somewhat disjointed and lacks a clear, cohesive overview. While you identified that private studios are the most popular location, the comparison between age groups and dance types is occasionally confusing due to imprecise data reporting. For instance, stating that 'under 11 and 11-16 age group of 300 students were equaly interested' is difficult to follow. To improve, ensure that your summary clearly highlights the most significant trends before moving into detailed comparisons, and double-check that your data points accurately reflect the provided charts.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organised into paragraphs, but the logical progression is hindered by awkward transitions and unclear referencing. Phrases like 'Moving on further' and 'In similar contrast' are used somewhat mechanically and do not always serve to link ideas effectively. The internal structure of the paragraphs is also problematic; for example, the second paragraph mixes data about age groups and dance types in a way that makes it hard for the reader to follow the comparison. Using a wider range of cohesive devices and ensuring each paragraph has a clear thematic focus would significantly improve the flow of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
Your vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, but there are several instances of imprecise word choice and spelling errors, such as 'locationn', 'mordern', 'aquired', and 'runned'. You rely on basic descriptors like 'most important thing' and 'minimally used'. To reach a higher band, you should aim for more precise academic vocabulary, such as 'predominant', 'account for', or 'proportionate'. Additionally, ensure you proofread for spelling errors, as these distract from the quality of your analysis. Expanding your range of collocations related to data description will also help you express comparisons more naturally.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Examples include 'number of students were involved' (subject-verb agreement), 'the is runned' (incorrect passive voice/missing subject), and '11-16 were not interested as under 11' (missing comparative structure). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with comma usage. To improve, focus on mastering basic subject-verb agreement and the correct formation of passive voice structures. While you attempt complex sentences, the high frequency of errors suggests that your control over these structures is currently limited.
