Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses the task by identifying the main features of both charts. However, the overview is weak; it describes the charts themselves rather than summarizing the data trends. While the report includes specific figures, it lacks meaningful comparisons. For instance, it lists data for ballet and tap classes separately without highlighting that ballet is the most popular choice for the younger age group, while modern dance is preferred by the older group. To improve, focus on synthesizing the information to show relationships between the data points rather than just listing them.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat mechanical and repetitive (e.g., 'The number of...'). The transition between the introduction and the body paragraphs is abrupt. While the information is generally grouped by chart, the progression within the paragraphs is limited to a list-like format. Improving the use of linking words and referencing (e.g., 'the former', 'the latter', 'in contrast') would help create a smoother flow between sentences and ideas.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks variety and precision. There are several awkward phrasings, such as 'the highest pie in the pie chart' and 'devide in different parts'. The student relies on basic descriptors and repeats the same sentence structures, which limits the ability to convey information with sophistication. To reach a higher band, you should use more precise terminology related to data description, such as 'proportion', 'segment', 'predominant', or 'fluctuation', and avoid repeating the same words in close proximity.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Examples include 'bar chart illustrate' (subject-verb agreement), 'this is attending currently youth' (word order), and '24% is this open' (incorrect clause structure). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with the use of commas and full stops. While the meaning is generally understandable, the frequency of these errors prevents the writing from reaching a higher band. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and basic sentence construction will significantly improve your accuracy.
