Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response covers all parts of the task by summarizing the location and dance types. However, the overview is weak; it merely describes the charts as having 'different parts' rather than highlighting the key trends or significant differences. While the data is presented, the report lacks a clear synthesis. For example, it lists figures for ballet and tap without comparing them effectively across the age groups. To improve, you should focus on identifying the most prominent features, such as the dominance of private studios or the shift in popularity between age groups for modern dance, rather than just listing individual data points.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat mechanical and repetitive (e.g., 'Firstly', 'Next', 'Finally'). Some sentences are poorly linked, such as 'the area for schools hall is 24% is this open after school', which creates confusion. The progression of ideas is present but lacks sophistication. To reach a higher band, you should use a wider variety of linking words and ensure that each sentence flows logically into the next without relying on simple, repetitive transitions.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is adequate for the task but remains quite basic and repetitive. You frequently use the word 'area' to describe percentages in a pie chart, which is inaccurate; 'proportion' or 'segment' would be more appropriate. There are also some awkward phrasings, such as 'the highest pie in the pie chart', which is not standard terminology. To improve, try to use more precise vocabulary related to data description, such as 'account for', 'constitute', or 'predominate', and ensure you use terms like 'percentage' or 'proportion' correctly when referring to chart data.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The response contains a mix of simple and some complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. For instance, 'bar chart illustrate' should be 'bar chart illustrates', and 'this is attending currently youth' is syntactically incorrect. There are also issues with punctuation and article usage (e.g., 'in pie chart' instead of 'in the pie chart'). While the meaning is generally understandable, the high frequency of errors in basic subject-verb agreement and word order prevents a higher score. Focus on proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy.
