Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response covers the main features of both charts, but the analysis is somewhat superficial. While you identify the highest and lowest values, the comparison between the two age groups is confusingly phrased, particularly the sentence regarding the 'gradual increase' for Modern dance. The description of the pie chart is clearer, but the summary of the bar chart lacks precision in comparing the age groups effectively. To improve, ensure that data points are clearly linked to their respective categories and that trends are described with more logical flow. You have addressed all parts of the prompt, but the development of the data comparison could be more analytical.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat mechanical and occasionally confusing. For example, the transition 'On the other hand observing Pie chart' is grammatically awkward and does not effectively signal a shift in focus. The use of 'Overall' at the start of the final paragraph is also slightly misplaced as it introduces specific data points rather than a summary of the main trends. Improving the variety and accuracy of linking words would help the ideas flow more naturally.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You have a sufficient range of vocabulary to convey the information, such as 'depicts', 'participants', and 'significant decrease'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation. For instance, 'fluctuation increase' is not a standard collocation, and 'more interest is showed to' should be 'more interest is shown in'. There is also a lack of variety in reporting verbs and descriptors. To reach a higher band, try to incorporate more precise academic vocabulary to describe trends and proportions, such as 'predominant', 'account for', or 'a marginal shift'.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are several grammatical errors that persist. Examples include 'observing Pie chart' (missing article), 'compared with age group between 11 to 16 respectively' (awkward phrasing), and 'more interest is showed to' (passive voice error). Punctuation is generally acceptable, but the sentence structure in the third paragraph is disjointed. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and the correct use of articles would significantly improve the accuracy of your writing.
