Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response covers the main features of the charts, identifying the private studios as the most popular location. However, the analysis is somewhat inconsistent. For instance, you mention 'almost half' for private studios (48%) and then later state 'other 50% of students learn dance from school or community halls or from studios that are built in colleges', which is mathematically imprecise and confusing. The description of the data is occasionally repetitive, and some interpretations, such as 'college students are less interested in dance', are speculative rather than based on the provided data. To improve, ensure all figures are accurately reported and avoid adding external opinions not supported by the charts.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate. For example, 'While, nearly quarter percentage' and 'As given given in the graph' show awkward phrasing and repetition. The transition between sentences is sometimes abrupt, and the logical flow is hindered by the inconsistent reporting of percentages. Improving the variety of linking words (e.g., 'furthermore', 'in contrast', 'consequently') and ensuring that referencing is clear would significantly enhance the coherence of the response.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks precision and variety. There are several instances of awkward phrasing, such as 'very least percent' and 'take admission in college studios'. The repetition of 'dance classes' and 'students' limits the lexical range. To reach a higher band, you should aim to use more precise collocations and synonyms to describe trends and data points, such as 'the majority of participants' instead of 'almost half number of people'. Spelling and word choice errors are present but do not prevent the reader from understanding the main points.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that affect the quality of the writing. Common issues include missing articles ('in town of Australia'), incorrect verb agreement ('These private studios has'), and awkward phrasing ('in present'). While the meaning is generally clear, these errors are persistent. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement and the correct use of articles. Increasing the use of error-free complex sentences will also help in achieving a higher score in this criterion.
