Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response attempts to address the task but fails to provide a complete summary. While it identifies the main features, the data presentation is incomplete and fragmented. For instance, the final sentence is cut off mid-thought ('almost 420 young people do tap'), which leaves the information unfinished. Furthermore, the response fails to clearly link the data to the age groups mentioned in the prompt, and the comparison between the two charts is underdeveloped. To improve, ensure all data points are fully articulated and that the relationship between the variables (location, type, and age) is clearly explained.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organized into short paragraphs, which helps with readability. However, the logical progression is hindered by the incomplete final sentence and some awkward transitions. While cohesive devices like 'On the one hand' and 'Furthermore' are used, they are sometimes applied mechanically or inappropriately given the context of the data. The referencing is occasionally unclear, and the overall flow feels disjointed due to the abrupt ending. Improving the use of linking words to connect ideas more naturally and ensuring each paragraph has a clear, finished focus would significantly enhance the coherence of the response.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the precision required for a higher band. There are several instances of awkward phrasing, such as 'currently attending by young people' (should be 'attended by') and 'the community halls were takes almost 18%'. These errors in word choice and collocation occasionally impede the clarity of the report. To reach a higher band, you should focus on using more precise terminology for describing data trends, such as 'accounted for', 'constituted', or 'represented', and ensure that your verb forms are grammatically accurate in context.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response contains a mix of simple and some attempted complex structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors. Examples include 'the types of dance classes that are currently attending by young people' (passive voice error) and 'the community halls were takes' (incorrect verb tense/form). These errors are noticeable and sometimes make the reader work harder to understand the intended meaning. To improve, focus on mastering basic subject-verb agreement and the correct formation of passive voice, which is essential for describing charts and graphs. Reducing these frequent errors will help improve your overall accuracy.
