The charts below give information on the location and types of dance classes young people in a town in Australia are currently attending.
Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.
Student answer (Band 7.0)
The pie chart provides information of where dance classes are held while the bar chart depicts many dance styles in two age groups, from under 11 to 11-16.
Overall, private studios are most popular location for dance classes. In terms of dances classes, Ballet is a great choice for younger children while Modern dance is preferred more by the older age group.
Regarding class locations, private studios make up the biggest percentage of dance classes at 48%, nearly half of the total. School halls used after studying hours is the second most common, accounting for 24%. On the other hand, community halls and other places recorded 18%, and college-based studios are the least popular choice, only 10%.
Turning to dancing class types, ballet is the most popular style among children under 11, with 600 students, where only 300 students aged 11–16 attend the class. By contrast, modern dance shows the opposite trend, attracting over 500 students in the older age group compared to about 300 in the under 11 group. Finally, tap dance has a similar number of participants in both age brackets, with around 450 younger students and just over 400 students in the age 11-16.
