Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response successfully identifies the main features of both charts. You have provided a clear overview and selected relevant data points to support your descriptions. However, there are some inaccuracies in data reporting; for example, you state that private studios cover 'almost half' at 48%, which is accurate, but your description of the dance classes for the 11-16 age group contains some minor misinterpretations of the provided figures. To reach a higher band, ensure that all comparisons are precise and that you avoid minor errors when transcribing data from the charts to your text. Overall, the response is well-structured and covers all requirements of the task.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The response is logically organized with a clear introduction, overview, and body paragraphs. You use cohesive devices such as 'In addition', 'In terms of', and 'In contrast' to guide the reader through the information. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the two different charts. While the flow is generally good, some transitions feel slightly mechanical. To improve, try to vary your linking phrases and ensure that the connection between sentences is always smooth. The referencing is generally clear, and the overall progression of ideas is easy to follow throughout the report.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'illustrate', 'proportion', and 'engage'. There are some minor errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'children under 11 children' (redundant) and 'less likely to joint' (should be 'join'). Additionally, 'most attractive for attending' is slightly unnatural in this context. To achieve a higher score, focus on using more precise collocations and avoiding repetitive phrasing. While the vocabulary is sufficient to convey your meaning clearly, it lacks the sophistication and flexibility required for the higher band levels.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The response uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, such as 'Private studios are cover' (incorrect verb form) and 'are not popular location' (missing pluralization). You also have issues with preposition usage and subject-verb agreement. While these errors do not impede communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score. To improve, focus on proofreading for basic subject-verb agreement and ensuring that your verb tenses are consistent. Increasing the variety of complex structures while maintaining accuracy will also help elevate your score.
