Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response covers all parts of the task by identifying the main features of both charts. You successfully selected key data points, such as the 48% share for private studios and the popularity of modern dance among the 11-16 age group. However, the analysis could be improved by making more direct comparisons between the two charts where relevant, rather than treating them as separate entities. While the overview is clear, some data reporting is slightly repetitive. To reach a higher band, ensure that the 'main features' are synthesized more effectively to highlight trends rather than just listing individual figures.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The response is logically organized with a clear introduction, an overview, and two body paragraphs. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the two distinct charts. Cohesive devices such as 'Moreover', 'while', and 'whereas' are used to link ideas, though some transitions feel slightly mechanical. The progression of ideas is generally clear, but the flow between the data points in the second body paragraph could be smoother. Overall, the information is presented in a coherent manner that is easy to follow.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'contributed', 'accounted for', and 'attendance'. There are some minor inaccuracies in word choice, such as 'famous' (which is better suited for people or landmarks rather than dance styles) and 'more of less same number'. Spelling errors like 'childern' (children) and 'prefered' (preferred) occur, which slightly detract from the professional tone. To improve, focus on using more precise academic collocations and ensure consistent spelling of basic terms.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The response uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are several grammatical slips, such as '18% classes are conducted' (should be '18% of classes') and '300 young kid' (should be 'children'). Punctuation is generally functional, but there are some issues with article usage and pluralization. The majority of sentences are understandable, but the frequency of these minor errors prevents the response from reaching a higher band. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and plural forms will help improve your accuracy.
