Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response covers the main features of both charts, including the location of classes and the popularity of dance types across age groups. You successfully identified the highest and lowest categories for location and made relevant comparisons for dance types. However, the overview is somewhat weak; it is integrated into the first paragraph rather than being a distinct summary of the main trends. Additionally, the final sentence is a repetitive summary that does not add new information. To improve, ensure you provide a clear, concise overview of the main trends immediately after the introduction to better highlight the overall picture.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the information. You use some cohesive devices such as 'Moreover', 'Furthermore', and 'However' to link ideas. However, the flow between sentences is occasionally mechanical, and some transitions feel slightly forced. The referencing is sometimes unclear, such as in the phrase 'the data given huge disparity is location', which lacks a proper grammatical connection to the previous sentence. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring that each paragraph has a clear thematic focus will help improve the logical progression of your writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'conducted', 'outperformed', 'minimal', and 'surged'. However, there are some errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'drastically dropped' (which should be 'dropped drastically') and 'the data given huge disparity is location' (which is awkward and lacks precision). While the vocabulary is sufficient to convey the main points, it lacks the flexibility and sophistication required for a higher band. Focusing on more precise collocations and avoiding repetitive phrasing will help elevate your score in this area.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, such as subject-verb agreement issues ('young people attends' should be 'attend') and missing articles or prepositions ('is location of dance classes' should be 'is in the location of dance classes'). Some sentences are also slightly fragmented or lack proper punctuation, which affects readability. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score. You should focus on proofreading for basic subject-verb agreement and ensuring that your complex sentences are constructed accurately.
