Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response covers all parts of the task by summarizing both the pie chart and the bar graph. You have identified the main features, such as the popularity of private studios and the age-related trends in dance styles. However, the analysis is somewhat superficial. For instance, you mention 'Tap are liked by similar number of students' without providing the specific data points to support this comparison. Additionally, the summary of the bar graph lacks precision in grouping the age categories correctly, which leads to some confusion in the data reporting. To improve, ensure that you explicitly compare the data points rather than just listing them, and double-check that your descriptions of the figures are accurate.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The response is organized into logical paragraphs, with an introduction, body paragraphs for each chart, and a brief summary. You use some cohesive devices like 'Furthermore' and 'Overall' to transition between ideas. However, the flow within paragraphs is occasionally mechanical. For example, the second paragraph lists percentages in a repetitive way ('20% of total people', '18% of total people'). The referencing is sometimes unclear, such as in the sentence 'Tap are liked by similar number of students', where the subject-verb agreement is also problematic. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring smoother transitions between sentences would enhance the overall coherence.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

You have a sufficient range of vocabulary to convey the main points, such as 'private studios', 'community halls', and 'age group'. However, there are several instances of awkward word choice and collocation errors, such as 'go on private studios' (should be 'attend private studios') and 'young generation' (should be 'young people'). The phrase 'ballet is considered famous' is also slightly unnatural; 'popular' or 'widely practiced' would be more appropriate. To reach a higher band, focus on using more precise collocations and avoiding repetitive phrasing when describing data trends.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The response uses a mix of simple and some complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally distract the reader. Common issues include subject-verb agreement ('Tap are liked', 'bar graph suggest'), missing articles ('the' majority, 'the' bar graph), and incorrect preposition usage ('go on private studios'). While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are persistent throughout the text. To improve, focus on proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy, particularly with articles, pluralization, and verb agreement, and try to incorporate a wider variety of complex sentence structures with greater control.
