Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response covers the main features of both charts, identifying the most popular locations and the age-related trends in dance styles. However, the analysis is somewhat superficial. For example, the description of the bar chart lacks precision in comparing the age groups, and the summary of the pie chart is slightly disjointed. While you have identified the key trends, the report would benefit from a more analytical approach that explicitly compares the data points rather than just listing them. The overview is present but could be more clearly integrated to highlight the most significant differences between the age groups and the distribution of locations.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate. Phrases like 'After this' and 'on the other hand' are used, but the flow between sentences is sometimes abrupt. The referencing is occasionally unclear, such as in the sentence 'the age class below 11 show about 600 number of student', where the connection to the previous paragraph is weak. Improving the use of transition signals and ensuring that each paragraph has a clear topic sentence would significantly enhance the logical progression of your ideas.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, but it lacks the precision required for a higher band. There are several instances of awkward phrasing, such as 'popular destination of dance tutors' and 'minor spots of dance classes'. The use of 'number of student' is repetitive and grammatically imprecise. To improve, you should focus on using more sophisticated collocations and precise terminology related to data description, such as 'the majority of', 'a significant proportion', or 'the most prevalent'. The current range is sufficient to convey the main points but does not demonstrate a flexible or precise command of language.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'the age class below 11 show'), missing articles (e.g., 'the pie-chart represent'), and awkward sentence construction (e.g., 'the number of student more popular ballet'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with the use of commas. While the meaning is generally understandable, the frequency of these errors prevents the writing from reaching a higher band. Focusing on basic sentence construction and ensuring subject-verb agreement will help improve your accuracy.
