Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response covers all parts of the task, providing a clear overview and reporting on the main features of both charts. You successfully identified the most popular locations and compared dance class participation across age groups. However, the report could be improved by ensuring the data is presented more fluently; for instance, the description of the dance classes is slightly repetitive in its listing of numbers. To reach a higher band, ensure that comparisons are more integrated rather than just listing figures. Overall, the information is accurate and the key trends are highlighted effectively.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The response is logically organized into paragraphs, with an introduction, an overview, and two body paragraphs focusing on location and class types respectively. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'Regarding', 'As for', and 'in contrast', which help guide the reader. However, some transitions are a bit mechanical, and the flow between sentences could be smoother. For example, the sentence 'Followed by school halls that contributed as 24%' is a fragment and lacks a clear subject, which disrupts the cohesion. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring each sentence is a complete, well-connected thought will enhance the overall flow.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

You have used a sufficient range of vocabulary to describe the data, including terms like 'proportion', 'contributed', and 'participated'. There are some minor inaccuracies in word choice, such as 'made-up the largest proportion of location' (should be 'accounted for the largest proportion of locations') and 'regarded as the most common' (which is grammatically awkward). While the vocabulary is adequate for the task, it lacks the precision and sophistication required for higher bands. Focusing on collocations and more varied reporting verbs would strengthen this area.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The response uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, such as 'college-based studios showed the least number of available location' (should be plural 'locations') and '10% is associated with' (should be '10% is accounted for by'). Additionally, there are issues with article usage and sentence fragments, such as 'Followed by school halls...'. While these errors do not prevent the reader from understanding the data, they occur frequently enough to limit the score. Increasing the use of error-free complex sentences would help improve your grade.
