Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response attempts to address the task but fails to provide a complete summary. While it identifies the charts, the analysis is fragmented and incomplete. The student mentions '48%' and '52%' for locations, but the description of the bar chart is confusing, particularly the claim that 'all children were equally participated in tap dance classes,' which is not supported by the data. Crucially, the response is unfinished, ending abruptly with 'Both the charts gives', which prevents a full overview or a logical conclusion. The data selection is inconsistent, and the lack of a clear summary of main features limits the score.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The response is divided into paragraphs, but the logical flow is weak. The transition between the pie chart and the bar chart is abrupt. Cohesive devices are used in a mechanical and sometimes incorrect way, such as 'The were four different locations' (grammatical error) and 'this might be due to' (repeated twice). The final sentence is incomplete, which significantly disrupts the coherence of the text. Referencing is sometimes unclear, and the progression of ideas is hindered by the lack of a concluding summary.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is limited and repetitive. Phrases like 'dance classes' and 'dance coaching' are used frequently. There are noticeable errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'most occupied' (referring to the chart) and 'coaching is occupied by students'. The term 'academic level' is used inaccurately to describe dance locations. While the vocabulary is sufficient to convey basic information, it lacks the precision and range required for a higher band score. The errors do not completely impede communication, but they are frequent enough to be distracting.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response contains a mix of simple and some attempted complex structures, but accuracy is inconsistent. There are frequent grammatical errors, such as 'The were four different locations' (incorrect article/verb), 'These coaching is occupied' (subject-verb agreement), and 'All children were equally participated' (incorrect passive voice). Punctuation is generally functional, but the sentence structure is often awkward. The abrupt ending of the final sentence indicates a lack of control over complex sentence construction. The errors are frequent and occasionally cause the reader to pause, though the intended meaning is usually discernible.
