Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0
The response fails to accurately report the data provided in the charts. The introduction is confusing and does not clearly state what the charts represent. The body paragraphs contain significant inaccuracies, such as misinterpreting the labels and figures (e.g., mentioning '300' and '600' for Ballet, which do not appear in the source). The response lacks a clear overview of the main trends, which is a requirement for Task 1. The information provided is disjointed and does not effectively compare the locations or types of dance classes. To improve, focus on identifying the highest and lowest values and grouping related data logically.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 4.0
The response lacks logical progression. While there are paragraph breaks, the ideas within them are not connected in a meaningful way. Cohesive devices are either missing or used incorrectly, such as the awkward use of 'Moreover' and 'then' to start sentences. Referencing is unclear, making it difficult for the reader to follow the relationship between the locations and the dance types. The overall structure is fragmented, and the lack of clear transitions between the different charts makes the report difficult to follow.
Lexical Resource — Band 4.0
The vocabulary is very limited and often used incorrectly. Phrases like 'down ratios' and 'not possible of managed' are non-standard and impede communication. There is a lack of precise terminology related to data description (e.g., 'increase', 'decline', 'proportion', 'majority'). The student struggles to express basic concepts, relying on repetitive and inaccurate phrasing. To reach a higher band, you need to learn specific collocations for describing charts, such as 'account for', 'the highest proportion', and 'a significant difference'.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.0
The response contains frequent grammatical errors that often obscure the intended meaning. There are issues with sentence structure, subject-verb agreement, and word order (e.g., 'The table chart is according to dance classes persons in the cities'). Many sentences are incomplete or lack a clear subject and verb. Punctuation is also inconsistent. The range of structures is very limited, consisting mostly of simple, error-prone sentences. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction and ensuring that every sentence has a clear subject and a correctly conjugated verb.
