Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0
The response attempts to address the task but fails to accurately interpret the data. The student includes irrelevant introductory text copied from the prompt and provides data that is mathematically impossible (e.g., '450 percent'). The overview is weak, and the reporting of figures is highly inaccurate, making it difficult to follow the trends. The response fails to clearly compare the two charts, and the information provided does not reflect the actual data presented in the visual. Consequently, the response does not adequately cover the requirements of the task.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 4.0
The essay lacks a logical structure. While there are paragraph breaks, the progression of ideas is disjointed. Cohesive devices are either missing or used incorrectly, such as the awkward use of 'nevertheless' and 'moving further'. The referencing is unclear, and the overall arrangement of information is confusing, which hinders the reader's ability to follow the summary of the charts.
Lexical Resource — Band 4.0
The vocabulary is very limited and often misused. There are frequent spelling errors (e.g., 'povided', 'piechart', 'sekecting', 'repporting', 'cristal', 'balled'). The student struggles to use appropriate terminology for describing data, resulting in nonsensical phrases like '450 percent'. The range of vocabulary is insufficient to convey the information accurately, and the errors frequently impede communication.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.0
The grammatical control is poor. There are frequent errors in sentence structure, punctuation, and basic grammar, such as subject-verb agreement and preposition usage (e.g., 'under age group of 11 are balled'). The response relies on simple, often fragmented sentences, and there is no evidence of complex sentence structures. The high frequency of errors makes the text difficult to read and understand.
