Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response addresses the task but fails to provide a meaningful summary. You have listed the data points for the first chart, but the second chart is poorly interpreted. You mention 'under 11 to 16 years' but do not explain how the data relates to these age groups. Furthermore, the final paragraph includes irrelevant information about dance in European countries, which is not present in the charts. To improve, focus strictly on the data provided, group information logically, and ensure you highlight the most significant trends or comparisons rather than simply listing every figure.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay is divided into paragraphs, but the logical progression is weak. The use of cohesive devices is mechanical and repetitive, such as 'Firstly', 'Secondly', and 'Thirdly'. The transition between the two charts is abrupt, and the final paragraph lacks a clear connection to the preceding data, making the overall structure feel disjointed. To improve, use a wider variety of linking words and ensure each paragraph has a clear topic sentence that guides the reader through the data analysis.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is quite limited and repetitive. You rely on basic terms like 'favorite' and 'important' to describe data. There are also errors in word choice, such as 'tape dance' (likely meaning 'tap dance') and 'likes by' instead of 'liked by'. The range of vocabulary is insufficient to demonstrate the precision required for Academic Task 1. You should aim to use more specific reporting verbs and nouns related to data, such as 'account for', 'represent', 'proportion', and 'category'.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the response. Examples include 'Location of dance classes are divided' (subject-verb agreement), 'which likes by 500 students' (passive voice error), and '300 hundred' (redundant). The sentence structures are mostly simple, and there is a lack of complex sentence forms. To reach a higher band, you need to focus on accurate subject-verb agreement, correct use of passive voice for describing data, and incorporating a mix of complex sentence structures to improve the flow and sophistication of your writing.
