Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response covers all parts of the task, providing a clear overview and highlighting key features from both charts. You successfully identified the most popular venues and the contrasting trends between the two age groups. However, the response is incomplete, as it ends abruptly mid-sentence ('However, The Ballent is'). This omission prevents a full comparison of the final data point. To reach a higher band, ensure all data points mentioned are fully described and that the conclusion is finished. The reporting of figures is generally accurate, though the incomplete ending significantly impacts the overall task completion.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is logically organized into paragraphs, with a clear introduction, overview, and body paragraphs focusing on location and dance types respectively. You use cohesive devices such as 'In terms of', 'Conversely', and 'The second most famous place' to guide the reader. However, the abrupt ending disrupts the flow and coherence of the final paragraph. Additionally, some referencing is slightly repetitive, such as the repeated use of 'famous' and 'number of'. Improving the variety of linking phrases and ensuring a complete, logical conclusion would enhance the cohesion of the response.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'venue', 'participants', and 'accounting for'. However, there is a tendency to use 'famous' where 'popular' or 'preferred' would be more appropriate in this context. There are also minor errors, such as 'Tapping' (should be 'tap dancing') and 'The Ballent' (spelling error). To improve, try to incorporate more precise academic vocabulary related to data description, such as 'predominant', 'constitute', or 'a significant proportion', and ensure consistent spelling of key terms.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The response uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While many sentences are clear, there are some grammatical inaccuracies, such as 'the most number of students' (should be 'the highest number of students') and 'the another age group' (should be 'the other age group'). Punctuation is generally functional, but the incomplete final sentence is a significant grammatical issue. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement and the correct use of articles. Aim for more complex sentence structures while maintaining accuracy to demonstrate a wider grammatical range.
