Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
You have successfully identified the main features of both charts and provided relevant comparisons. You clearly highlighted that private studios are the most popular location and that ballet is the preferred dance style for younger students. However, the response lacks precision in reporting data. For instance, you mention '48% dance classes was helding on private studios', but the data interpretation is slightly imprecise, and the description of the line chart trends could be more analytical. To reach a higher band, ensure that all figures are accurately transcribed and that you provide a more comprehensive overview of the trends rather than just listing individual data points.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The response is organized into logical paragraphs, which helps the reader follow your points. You use some cohesive devices like 'In addition', 'In contrast', and 'respectively' to link ideas. However, the flow is occasionally hindered by awkward phrasing and mechanical transitions, such as 'Ater that' and 'Location from community halls... was less likely places'. The referencing is sometimes unclear, and the progression of ideas could be smoother. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring that each paragraph has a clear topic sentence would significantly enhance the overall coherence of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
Your vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing you to describe the charts clearly. You use some topic-specific terms like 'private studios', 'school halls', and 'modern dance'. However, there are several errors in word choice and spelling, such as 'ballent' instead of 'ballet', 'helding' instead of 'held', and 'respectivily'. These errors do not prevent understanding, but they do indicate a limited control over more precise vocabulary. To improve, focus on using accurate terminology and checking the spelling of key words related to the task.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While you can convey information, there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, such as subject-verb agreement issues ('the count of under 11 students are') and incorrect verb forms ('was helding'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with comma placement. While these errors rarely impede communication, they are frequent enough to impact the overall fluency of the response. Focusing on basic sentence construction and proofreading for subject-verb agreement will help you achieve a higher score in this criterion.
