Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
You have successfully identified the main features of both charts and provided relevant comparisons. You clearly highlighted the dominant location (private studios) and the contrasting popularity of dance types between the two age groups. However, the response could be improved by ensuring all data points are described with greater precision. For instance, when mentioning the 18% contribution of community halls and 'others', it is unclear if these are separate categories. Additionally, while you compared the age groups, a more integrated overview that synthesizes the relationship between location and age would have strengthened the response. Overall, you have addressed all parts of the task effectively.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The response is logically organized, with a clear introduction, overview, and body paragraphs that separate the two charts. You use cohesive devices such as 'whereas', 'however', and 'by contrast' to signal shifts in information. While the progression is generally clear, some transitions feel slightly mechanical, such as 'After that' and 'In the pie chart'. Paragraphing is used appropriately to group related information. To reach a higher band, ensure that referencing is consistently precise and that the flow between sentences feels more natural rather than relying on repetitive structural patterns.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You have a sufficient range of vocabulary to convey the information clearly, using terms like 'proportion', 'inclined towards', and 'significant number'. There are some minor inaccuracies in word choice, such as 'others studios' instead of 'other studios' and 'least famous' (which is better expressed as 'least popular'). You also have a few spelling errors, such as 'accroding' and 'modren'. While these do not impede communication, they prevent the response from reaching a higher band. Expanding your vocabulary to include more precise collocations related to data reporting would be beneficial.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, which is appropriate for this task. There are some grammatical slips, such as 'bar chart compares' (missing an article) and 'children age under 11' (should be 'aged under 11'). Additionally, there are minor punctuation and preposition errors, such as 'minors under 11 years old, have joined' (unnecessary comma). Despite these errors, your meaning is always clear, and the grammar does not impede the reader's understanding. To improve, focus on article usage and ensuring subject-verb agreement in more complex sentences.
