Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response covers all parts of the task well. You have successfully identified the main features of both the pie chart and the bar chart, such as the dominance of private studios and the age-related preferences for specific dance styles. The comparisons between the two age groups are clear and supported by the data provided. To reach a higher band, ensure that all data points are described with complete accuracy; for instance, you mentioned 'more than 600' for ballet under 11, but the chart shows exactly 600. Overall, the information is well-selected and effectively reported.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The response is logically organized with a clear introduction, an overview, and two body paragraphs focusing on the separate charts. The progression of ideas is smooth, and you use a variety of cohesive devices such as 'At a glance,' 'Additionally,' 'Moreover,' and 'Conversely' to link your points effectively. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the different data sets. The referencing is generally clear, and the flow of information is easy to follow throughout the report.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'proportion,' 'dominates,' and 'respectively' correctly. There are some minor inaccuracies in word choice and phrasing, such as 'children ages between 11 to 16' (should be 'aged between') and 'lie ballet dance' (should be 'like ballet'). While you attempt to use varied vocabulary, some expressions are slightly repetitive or awkward. Improving the precision of your collocations will help you achieve a higher score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The response uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is always clear, there are several grammatical errors, such as 'under 11 years of old' (should be 'under 11 years old') and 'adult aged between' (should be 'adults aged between'). Subject-verb agreement and preposition usage are generally accurate, but these recurring minor errors in phrasing prevent the response from reaching a higher band. The majority of sentences are understandable, and the errors do not impede communication.
