Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0

The response successfully identifies and reports the main features of both charts. You have provided a clear overview and selected relevant data points to support your descriptions, such as the popularity of private studios and the age-related trends in dance styles. However, the analysis could be improved by making more direct comparisons between the categories rather than simply listing figures. For instance, noting that ballet is the most popular choice for younger children while modern dance is the clear preference for the older group provides a more analytical approach. Overall, you have covered all parts of the task well, and the information is accurately presented.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0

The response is logically organized, with a clear introduction, an overview, and two body paragraphs focusing on location and dance types respectively. You use cohesive devices such as 'Overall', 'Regarding', and 'Conversely' to guide the reader through the information. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the two distinct datasets. To reach a higher band, ensure that the transition between sentences is smoother; some sentences feel slightly disconnected, and the referencing could be more precise. For example, 'In this category' is a good attempt at cohesion, but ensure the link to the previous sentence is unambiguous.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.5

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'depicts', 'proportions', and 'enrolments' effectively. There are some minor errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'Regarding with the location' (should be 'Regarding the location') and 'attented' (spelling error). While you use some less common vocabulary, the range is somewhat limited. To improve, try to incorporate more varied synonyms for 'highest' or 'lowest' and ensure that your prepositions are used correctly with your chosen nouns. The vocabulary is sufficient to convey your meaning clearly throughout the report.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5

You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, which is appropriate for this task. There are some grammatical slips, such as 'private studio were' (should be 'private studios were') and '24% students' (should be '24% of students'). Additionally, 'Regarding with' is an incorrect prepositional phrase. Despite these errors, your meaning is always clear, and the mistakes do not impede communication. To achieve a higher score, focus on subject-verb agreement and ensure that your complex sentences are punctuated correctly. Increasing the frequency of error-free sentences will help elevate your score in this criterion.
